Best Skincare Routine for Rosacea & Sensitive Skin | sknglo

If you have rosacea or reactive, easily-irritated skin, you already know that most skincare advice doesn't apply to you. Exfoliants sting. "Brightening" serums leave you red for hours. Even a lot of "gentle" products still manage to set off a flare.
We hear from customers with rosacea often, and one story stuck with us. One of our longtime customers, a 67-year-old woman managing both very dry skin and rosacea, shared this:
"I am a 67 year old woman and I have very dry skin. I also have a form of rosacea. I use this oil twice daily and it keeps my skin so soft with no irritation. I also slug with the beef tallow at night and have had amazing results. No more dry flaking skin and my makeup glides on smoothly."
That's the routine we want to walk through here — simple, low-irritant, and built around calming rather than "fixing."
What to look for (and avoid) with rosacea-prone skin
- Avoid: harsh exfoliants, high concentrations of active acids, fragrance-heavy products, anything that leaves a tingling or burning sensation
- Look for: calming botanicals (like blue tansy), minimal ingredient lists, occlusive moisturizers that protect rather than strip
A simple AM/PM routine for rosacea-prone skin
Morning:
- Cleanse gently with lukewarm water
- Apply Blue Tansy Face Oil — known for calming the look of redness and irritation
- Follow with sunscreen (rosacea-prone skin is often more sun-reactive)
Evening:
- Cleanse gently
- Apply Blue Tansy Face Oil again
- Seal everything in with Grass-Fed Beef Tallow Balm as a final layer — this "slugging" step locks in hydration overnight and helps prevent the dry, flaking patches that often come with rosacea
Why this combination works
Blue tansy is prized in calming skincare formulas specifically because it's gentle enough for reactive skin while still addressing visible redness. Tallow, meanwhold, mimics your skin's own natural oils closely enough that it moisturizes deeply without introducing the kind of synthetic or heavily processed ingredients that can trigger a flare.
Together, they cover both problems rosacea-prone skin usually faces at once: irritation and moisture loss.
A note on patch testing
Even gentle products can react differently on reactive skin. If you're new to either product, patch test on a small area first, and introduce one product at a time so you know what's working.
The takeaway
You don't need a 10-step routine to manage rosacea-prone skin — you need the right two or three products, used consistently. If our customer's experience sounds like where you're starting from, this routine is a good place to begin.
